P5 HM

Hello and welcome to our Primary Five page. We are having lots of fun and doing lots of work and would love for you to have a look! crying

For European Language Day we choose to study Italy. We had so much fun learning interesting facts, speaking Italian and tasting some Italian food. At the end of the day we had a Table Quiz. The team that won got a bag of sweets.

Today was an extremely important day in our school. The annual Student Council Elections took place. We all got to vote for our one girl and one boy to represent our class. Mr. Fusco is calculating the votes and announcing the winners at a School Assembly. We are very excited!

Our topic this term is called 'Weather'. We have found out lots of interesting facts about climates around the world. Today we completed an investigation on the Water Cycle. We were introduced to all of the different stages including evaporation, condensation, precipitation and collection. We can now label and describe the stages of the water cycle.

We had an eventful day in St. Mary's today! When we arrived at school, we found out the devestating news that someone had stolen our school trophies. At a School Assembly, we got to see footage of the crime taking place. In order to catch the suspect we had to complete a number of problems. We had so much fun and made super detectives. The thief was finally caught once and for all!

Today was one of our favourite days of the year - Our Halloween Party! We came to school in terrifying costumes and scared Miss Magorrian, Mrs Williams and Mrs Cunningham. We ate lots of sweets and did lots of dancing.

As part of our 'Weather' topic, we completed an investigation on the creation of a Rainbow. We worked in groups and used different light sources to create different effects.
We know that every week is an anti-bullying week in St. Mary's but to raise awareness for the publically celebrated 'anti-bullying week', our class worked in groups to create a jigsaw. We addressed lots of different issues of bullying including types, effects and the actions to take when you are bullied or when you witness someone else being bullied. We enjoyed working in our teams to create our jigsaw pieces.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas ... We had three naughty little elves visit our classroom today but we didn't mind because they did a super job of decorating our class tree!

We started a new topic this term called 'People Who Changed the World'. We are having so much fun finding out interesting facts about so many inspiring people. Today we even got to be inventors ourselves! We began by watching a video that told us all about how to become an inventor. We know that to become an inventor, the first thing to do is to find a problem. After you have found the problem, Step Two is solving this problem.

With this in mind, in our groups, we then worked together to create unique inventions. We had so many wonderful ideas and were so excited to share these with all of our Primary Five peers!

Watch the space - Autodresser 2017 is coming soon!
